Accountant
An accountant applies accounting standards in order to process and analyse financial information. He is also expected to prepare monthly or annual financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements and using accounting control procedures.
In a small company, the accountant works over all of the fields such as:
- Registering accounting operations
- Preparing the closure of annual accounts which are checked by the chartered accountant.
- Issuing employees' payslips as well as tax returns.
In a bigger company, accountants are divided according to their specialty :
- customer accounting manager
- suppliers accounting manager
- accoutants responsible for issuing payslips
All of them are headed by the chief accountant.
They have various roles such as:
- Following the customers' and suppliers' bills processing
- Managing employees' payslips
- Designing a dashboard for management control.
An accountant is expected to be meticulous and responsible. He is also required to have a significant knowledge regarding accounting standards and be self-sufficient.
After a 4- or 5-year experience time, an accountant earns between £45,000 and £55,000 per year.
