Why can I study ?

The School offers courses not only in economics and political science, but also in a wide range of social science subjects, taught within 19 departments and a number of interdisciplinary institutes.

Undergraduate degree programmes:
(BSc/BA/LLB) - three-year first-degree programmes in a broad range of subjects, offering a useful intellectual training in different approaches to social questions.

Graduate degree programmes:
Taught: (Diploma/MSc/MA/MPA/LLM) – one or two-year programmes. Many blend practical experience with rigorous academic analysis so as to broaden the knowledge of practitioners in certain fields.

Research:
(MPhil/MRes/PhD) - programmes producing professional social scientists, well versed in a range of social science techniques and methods, and in-depth knowledge of a particular area.

University of London International Programmes:
(BSc/Diploma programmes) - study through distance learning, with the aid of subject guides and other materials provided by LSE.

Executive education:
TRIUM EMBA and custom-made executive programmes for both public and corporate sectors.

For more than 150 years, the University of London has been offering International Programmes to students all over the world. There are currently more than 45,000 students studying in over 180 countries.

As a family of world-class institutions, the University of London has a reputation for academic distinction in teaching and research, both in the UK and internationally. All International programmes are developed by academics within the colleges of the University of London.

The London School of Economics and Political Science is committed to widening participation in Higher Education. Since 1994, the LSE has examined and provided the academic direction and support to a wide range of degrees and diplomas offered by the University of London International Programmes (formerly known as the External System), in the fields of Economics, Management, Finance and the Social Sciences (EMFSS). There are currently over 21,000 students enrolled on the EMFSS suite of programmes.

The University of London staff deal with all student administration such as general enquiries, applications, registration and despatch of study materials.

The LSE, as a college of the University of London, is responsible for all academic aspects of the qualifications offered. What that means is that LSE academics and administrative staff develop syllabuses, write subject guides, develop online learning opportunities and materials, advise teaching institutions, grant permission to teach the Diploma and prepare and mark examinations.

University of London International Programmes students have the benefit of LSE's academic input, and the backing of the University of London, one of the oldest and largest universities in the United Kingdom.
